-
Setting:
- The story unfolds in the floating world of Cocoon, a technologically advanced society kept afloat by powerful crystals. The inhabitants of Cocoon live in fear of the lower world, Pulse, which is considered a dangerous and corrupting influence.
-
Protagonists:
- The main characters are Lightning, a former soldier with a strong sense of duty; Snow, the leader of a rebel group called NORA; Vanille, an enigmatic young woman; Sazh, a pilot and father; Hope, a teenager seeking revenge; and Fang, a mysterious woman with a connection to Vanille.
-
The Purge:

-
L'Cie and Fal'Cie:
- The characters are branded as L'Cie, individuals chosen by beings known as Fal'Cie to carry out a Focus, a mission that often results in transforming into crystallized monsters known as Cie'th. The characters strive to understand their Focus and the consequences of failing it.
-

- As the characters journey through the hostile environments of Pulse, they uncover the mysteries surrounding the Fal'Cie and their connection to the destiny of Cocoon. The narrative explores themes of fate, free will, and sacrifice.
-
Cie'th Stone and Pulse Entities:
- Along their journey, the characters encounter Cie'th Stones, remnants of failed L'Cie who were unable to complete their Focus. They also face powerful entities known as Eidolons, which are summoned by the characters during moments of crisis.
-
