"Lost Planet 2" is a third-person shooter developed and published by Capcom. It is the sequel to the original "Lost Planet: Extreme Condition" and was released for the PlayStation 3 in 2010. The game is set in a science fiction universe where players engage in cooperative multiplayer battles against powerful alien creatures known as the Akrid. Here's an overview of "Lost Planet 2" for the PS3:
-
Setting and Story: "Lost Planet 2" is set in the same universe as the first game, E.D.N. III, a planet covered in ice and inhabited by hostile alien creatures called Akrid. The game takes place 10 years after the events of the original and features a complex narrative told from multiple perspectives, following different factions and characters.
-
Four-Player Co-op: One of the significant features of "Lost Planet 2" is its emphasis on cooperative gameplay. The game supports four-player cooperative multiplayer, allowing players to team up to tackle missions, face massive Akrid bosses, and navigate through challenging environments together.
-
Diverse Environments: The game features diverse environments, ranging from frozen landscapes to lush jungles. Each environment presents its own set of challenges and unique Akrid creatures, requiring players to adapt their strategies and tactics accordingly.
-
Character Customization: Players can customize their characters with a variety of options, including different factions, outfits, and weapons. The customization adds a personal touch to the cooperative experience.
-
Vital Suits: The game retains the use of Vital Suits, mechanized combat suits equipped with powerful weapons. Players can pilot these suits in both single-player and multiplayer modes, providing additional firepower and protection against the hostile Akrid.
-
Akrid Enemies: The Akrid are formidable alien creatures with various sizes and abilities. From smaller, swarming enemies to massive bosses, players need to work together to overcome these threats. Some Akrid have specific weak points that players must target to defeat them effectively.
-
Campaign Structure: The game features an episodic structure with various interconnected episodes that players can progress through. Each episode explores different aspects of the overall story, and players may experience events from multiple perspectives.
-
Multiplayer Modes: In addition to the cooperative campaign, "Lost Planet 2" includes various competitive multiplayer modes, such as Team Elimination, Akrid Egg Battle, and Data Post Battle. These modes allow players to engage in team-based and competitive gameplay beyond the cooperative campaign.
-
Weapon Variety: The game offers a wide array of weapons, including traditional firearms and futuristic energy-based weaponry. Players can find and utilize different weapons to suit their playstyle and adapt to the challenges presented in each mission.
-
Visuals and Graphics: "Lost Planet 2" features visually impressive graphics, showcasing detailed environments, character models, and Akrid designs. The game aims to create a visually engaging and immersive sci-fi experience.
-
Reception: The reception for "Lost Planet 2" was mixed, with praise for its cooperative gameplay and criticism for its complex narrative structure. Some players enjoyed the cooperative aspects, while others found the storyline and level design to be less compelling compared to the original game.
